
The fatality of the words
Formed at the end
Of our pointed staffs,
Poised for attack
With helmets askew
And shields held higher
To block our pride
And not our hearts-
Deja vu of never again
As we charged forward
With little consideration
Of what tomorrow
Would hold.
Katrina Thornley is a nature poet and novelist that resides in Rhode Island. She has two poetry collections currently published, a novel, as well as a short story anthology.
