Boat Parade on the James River

From the city heights,

I look down on the James River,

I see the Christmas lights,

The city will come alive,

This time of night,

This is a beautiful sight,

The ships and boats,

Their sails, rigging, and hulls,

Lights red and green,

This is how they are seen,

The river is illuminated,

With Christmas lights so bright,

I hope the fun lasts,

For these long December nights,

On the James River,

I hope it is not too cold,

I don't want to shiver

Fun for the kids,

Their eyes light up,

And they say,

"Gee whiz,"

Nights like this,

On the James River,

Fun all night long,

I hope it never ends,

Not even at dawn.
