Cheers to us

Time isn’t wasted

By Elijah B TornPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Cheers to us

Cheers to everything we could be

Everything we can be

Everything we already are

Our moon, such a wondrous

Sliver of light

The universe’s hand on my knee

Saying we will be

As I sit and write of the simplicity of a moth’s path

Flying on your shoulder

To never forget this orbit

When we are our own gravity

Not an asteroid

Nor a brief and cataclysmic event

An empty glass of whiskey and a cigarette stained mask of confidence I so much prefer the fire you light

Destroy the world and make it better

Our own galaxy

Alone

With everyone

Cheers to us

Cheers to everything we create

Time isn’t wasted

Even the moon eventually dies

Ancient monuments and arcane embellishments

We need no exaggeration

Let’s sit under broccoli trees

Without excuse

Because this is our one life

You can do it all on your own but

Cheers to us on this beautiful night.

Cheers to you.
