Deal them.
See where they land.
I'm not a gambler -
I like to play safe.
I don't have a dishonest bone in my body
But I do have a tell.
Watch.
See if you can see it
As you shuffle the deck of deceit
And flush out my feelings
So you can play your best hand.
I thought we were a pair
But as we've built this life together
I know that it can topple
And scatter
And that picking those blank regal faces from the floor
Will not get us straight again.
That mine will be the only hand reaching.
Their uncaring expressions are a reflection
Of the nature of your heart.

Oh, very deep… great progression from card playing styles to integrity or lack of it.
This is so good! Love how you personified the cards in this way it creates very powerful metaphors for what this relationship is like.
Great job using the symbolism of the cards to expose heartbreak! Very emotionally stirring!
I'd say you have their number, & that in spades!
Hoping it isn't autobiographical!
Very emotional, again. I am surprised how you people are finding inspiration in the “cards” and I am finding none this time. 😂 All the entries I read so far are very emotional, about heartbreak, etc. Just felt like sharing here this after reading a few emotional entries. This makes me wonder about how people think of the cards in general in terms of association. 🃏
Whoaaaa, this was an emotional masterpiece! I freaking loved it!
