To those who believe

in the philosophy

to deplatform, to censor

to silence:

be careful of the machinery

you build,

be careful of the precedent

that you blindly demand.

Just because the *mainstream*

the tech companies

the papers

the news

the movies

your pet dog

and the direction of your piss

are currently LEFT OF CENTRE

does not mean

it will forever be so.

Pendulums swing

with the ferocity of history

and one day when

its momentum returns,

the very thing you

celebrated

the very thing you

helped build

will consume, for all that you stood.

Another eye opening piece from you, the idea that just because something is this way now doesn't mean it won't change! I get the sense evolution in this poem, like the changing of tides as one era ends and another is on the horizon! Beautifully written!

Oh, my! Priceless warning. Thank you for your beautiful insight.

  • I am sure there are many undiscovered histories in our world that we still know nothing about for a number of varying reasons. What is popular in one place today, isn't popular anywhere else in the world. We are unique beings and to exist for such a short time, I hope someday we, as humans, will unearth a larger understanding of the differences we possess and how each of us should have a fair share in its discovery. The winds of time do change, that is a fact.

Haha, i love your brash and honest style. Kinda gives me Charles Bukowski vibes which i think is a huge compliment. :) πŸ€— thanks for being real!

Oh my, Dean...you are on fire right now. This is so honest, brutally so and truthful, rightfully! Just love it so much...including the line about piss too! haha! Well done and congrats on Top Story! You deserve that!

    Congratulations on your Top Story

  • V true.I find all versions of the "news" these days tell us what we should believe, instead of simply reporting it. Living overseas, I've come to see that 90% of the news they tell us on tv about foreign countries is simply propaganda. Every fire or flood in asia, latam or africa is somehow their fault, but in the US or UK its an unfortunate accident, filled with heroes saving pets and the authorities have gotten to the bottom of it and it will never happen again. Anyway I tend to watch Travel shows and the Discovery channel these days for a more positive and humanistic view of the world.

  • A certainty of truth. Discernment is what is needed. Not censorship.

Totally agree with the sentiment here, and very well crafted, too, Dean! I feel this is a prudent warning for all, though I wish it could alleviate those fears. Congrats on TS, this deserves it! πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Bravo, Dean. As you said, the pendulum always swings. The golden rule always stands. Great work. πŸ’—

Darn right. People need to be concerned about the machinations that they build, not because they could turn on them one day, but because if their devices were meant to be good, they'd cause good and not damage, if not more good than more damage. Hell, even a surgeon has to break the skin to find and potentially remove the problems within. People are too obsessed with political position that they lose sight of thinking for themselves, and having responsibility for their own mental cognition.

  • Love this. So very important to hear this message in the wave of AI & technology. Deep and very visceralπŸ’•excellent work!!!
