But The Body Language Said It All

Were You Listening?

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 7 months ago 1 min read

I didn’t say the words out loud

But I wore them on my face

I didn't announce it to the crowd

When your respect fell out of place

But my body bore the brunt

Of the words that didn’t come

Like a madman on a hunt

You discovered new ways to look dumb

You heated up the room

When the gaslighting began

You thought that I would swoon

When your love bombing cued the band

But I can’t ignore your two left feet

And I refuse to dance this dance

To make my silent cry taste sweet

I’d like to tell you - kiss my a$$
