Sweet girl,
I love your beautiful
Brown eyes.
You got them
From me.
I have never loved
On myself
Until I got to
See
Them on you.
Girl, they’re beautiful.
I don’t know
How I didn’t realize
The beauty of brown eyes
Before you.
They are soulful and deep
You look like
You are pondering life’s
Biggest questions.
They glisten in the light.
Bright with active listening
And delight.
They are stunning.
The world will tell you
All the ways that you
Don’t fit
In a cookie-cutter,
Barbie-shaped
And colored,
Unhealthy focus and standard.
But I promise and commit
That you will never hear
A hint
Of negative comment
About these beautiful brown eyes
Of mine
The same shade
That a holy Creator
Made your eyes.
With a new
Divine perspective
I see they are truly beautiful.
Your beautiful brown eyes,
The same color
As mine.
