Brown Eyes

“Home”

By Julie BarrientesPublished 7 years ago 1 min read

Brown eyes,

Dark brown eyes,

Have never been my favorite

Until I saw home in yours.

The way you look at me

Drives me crazy

With those brown eyes

You look at me

And I see the anger leave you

I see the hatred in your heart escape

Like butterflies

The ones before you who gave me butterflies

Left spiders in their place

You make the whole zoo take part in my tummy

A baby taken from the womb

Our baby

Left my heart broken and my soul bitter

Bitterness in my heart

The same bitterness I once had before you
