You broke my heart a long time ago

Rings on fingers that made me stay

Your destructive words lashed out

Unwanted hands on skin

I will break this vow

For I deserve

Everything

I enjoyed reading this so much! Very relatable poem!

Great twist. I was led to believe the other would break the vow, but if there’s ever a good reason this is it. Great poem powerful message and much respect

GREAT poem. Although my husband (my ex, that is) never raised his hand to me, he also was never faithful. One day, he just walked out. Decided he wanted someone younger. I vowed to myself that I'd survive and I did! My sons are happily married men but only God knows what might have been in "he" stayed. Thank you for the reminder that we are all strong when we need to be.

This feels devastating, justifiably, during those first few lines, and then ultimately feels very empowering! Well written, Christina! Great entry.
