Bring Back The Color

05/14/2021 In honor of the differences inside each of us.

By 유리Published 5 years ago 1 min read

When I was little, I use to see color...

Each new thing that I was seeing,

Curiosity filled my very being.

My mind was living in a colorful space,

As I encountered each new face.

"We are all the same," Everyone said.

But now I see that I was mislead.

When I got older, I became colorblind...

The color began fading and the world knows why.

I was no longer living under my old, blue sky.

Everything became so black and white,

Dismissing people of their legal right.

I've been blinded by the generations before,

And at some point this cannot go on anymore.

Now, I have learned the importance of color...

The right to be 100% YOU,

Polishing my old lens that I once looked through.

Noticing the differences that each of us holds.

Done being shoved into the same old molds.

Let's celebrate all of the differences we see,

Letting our neighbors finally feel free.

We are different, but that's okay.

Let's grow from our mistakes of yesterday.

Finally, you are you and I am me.

But, for those still trapped, let's take a knee.
