Bowed In Awe
For the star I’ll never take for granted

Bowed like a tree after an ice storm
Cracking under invisible weights
Responsibility expectations time
All my faults, my weakest points
Laid bare beneath a crystal shell
But after a long dark night
Covered in stalactite spikes I sharpened
Hope crests the horizon
Cracking my bitter brittle protection
Melting burdens from my bent limbs
Lifting me up on rays of joy
Like Descarte’s sun, what I can perceive
Is nothing compared to who you are
But until that yellow bauble burns out
I bow in awe of your fiery heart

A happy guy that tends to write a little cynically. Just my way of dealing with the world outside my joyous little bubble.

Love the progression in this poem & it’s vivid imagery.😄✅
I love those last four lines, absolutely masterful
Every line of this hit its mark dead center! You have such a talent for cutting out fluff and delivering such refined poems. Each image does so much work to keep the impact coming
I love the imagery in this, Shaun and the appreciation for someone/something other too, that provides what you need to soften/strengthen.
This was so deep and beautiful! Loved your poem!
The allusion to Descartes is seamless!
