A Sonnet

I do not walk alone, I am certain

When darkness calls to me, I see your face

My heart remains untethered from burden

I feel you close, with exceptional grace

*

You guide me with honour, as our world turns

There are not many I choose to call friend

You hold me with kindness, as the world burns

A bond to test time, 'till our time might end

*

Friendship so strong it can not unravel

Distance unremarkable, our hearts close

No matter how far apart we travel

Together forever, loyalty rose

*

My dear friend, my partner, whom I do love

Forevermore entwined, high as the dove

This poem won me 2nd place in the Mikeydred Poetry Challenge.

A special moment for me as it was my first ever attempt at a sonnet.
