Aegean Sea
I’d recognise your blue anywhere
Your voice a beckoning whisper and a howl
You speak in waves crashing
On the rocks I’ve made my home
I miss the way my eyes rest
Upon your endless form
I’d recognise your blue anywhere
The blue that carried me
Before my body could
Your thousand arms a cradle
You’ve been the one most stable
In my less than stable youth
I’d recognise your blue anywhere
The blue that puts my blues into perspective
In your foaming shores
In your darkest depths
You carry life
Mother of the unexpected
And I feel for the fools
Who believe they can tame you
And laugh at the ones
Who attempt to explain you
And when the time comes
I’ll humbly return to you
I’d recognise your blue anywhere
