Bitter Wind

by: Teresa J. Lavender

By Teresa LavenderPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

When the sky fell in the distance

you touched my face

I couldn't feel it when you kissed me

then you walked away

as the moon peaked in my window

through the broken sky

and the bitter wind blew it all away

In the silence of the moment

there was no shooting star

and the falseness of emotion

made me wonder why

I wipe the shadows from my eyes

and peel the cloth away

in the end there was nothing left to say

The stillness of the evening

offers no relief

I trace my finger through the memory

and watch it dissipate

there is no answer in reflection

when its truth you seek

and the bitter wind blew it all away

sad poetry
