Bitter Child

Poetry

By Inga Turner Published 4 years ago Updated 4 years ago 1 min read

A bitter child walked in the room, she said “Father play with me”

“Girl you have a lot to learn, before you will be free.”

“Mother won’t you notice me, before my life goes wrong?”

I hold on to memories, that always linger on.

Silently I waited, for someone to trust, to hold

I met you the other night, all innocence was lost.

You came to me inside the wind, you opened up my eyes,

Time stood still, my mind was free, you took me for a ride.

We danced alone inside your mind, where all my pain was gone,

Trust in all I am tonight, my child we’ll carry on.

Yesterday you said you’d leave, you could not stand the pace,

The bluest eyes, the saddest smile, no-one can take your place.

Where will you be when my time is up, when I no longer know who I see?

Look deep in her eyes, beautiful one, for the face that looks back is still me.

I will cherish you forever, the kindest friend I’ve known,

And when the nightmares start to cease, I’ll carry you back home.
