My fellow human beings,

The world spins on.

Yesterday was frightening,

but the world spins on.

It feels eons ago,

since the world spins on.

Living memory diminishes to no.

So the world spins on.

The past lies in a dusty book,

as the world spins on.

The lessons they hold, don't over look,

while the world spins on.

History does an about face,

because the world spins on.

We ignore it for the pretty surface,

but we know the world spins on.

We hang on to the delusion of peace,

though the world spins on.

The glittery slivers of joy will never ever cease;

the fact is, that the world spins on.

The shadow of evil faded yesterday,

alas, the world spins on.

It holds a new shape today,

and the world spins on.

It sits in a different corner,

of the world that spins on.

It does not hide; it is the new order

by which the world spins on.

Ignored lessons of history lead us to tomorrow's tragedy.

The world spins on.

About the Creator

Noelle Spaulding

I was once called a ‘story warrior’ by a teacher in film school, because of how passionately I prioritized the story over all other aspects.

I believe good stories inspire the best of us, and we need them now more than ever.
