Birdbath in the Garden

It's a source of joy

There is a joy in serving,

the little creatures,

for we are harming them,

by our reckless actions.

My backyard garden is organic,

healthy for all visitors,

be it birds, lizards or pollinators.

Birds bring with them

the songs, and cheer,

so, for them,

there are variety of foods,

mustard seeds to worms,

flowers, bugs, to choose from.

As if that is not enough,

under the shade of guava tree,

flanked by yellow coreopsis,

and orange nasturtium,

there is a pretty birdbath,

filled with fresh water.

As I see sparrows, finches,

crows, wrens, and towhees

sip and splash there,

on hot summer days,

perched on the trellis,

drying clean feathers

my heart feels very proud,

and I feel blessed.

Good job and there is really nothing better than watching birds and/or squirrels washing up.
