Beware of the Dead Zone
Timing, Timing, Timing
Never thought there was a bad time to write
Content to dabble any day or night
At least that’s the thought I’d weave
Until I posted on Christmas Eve.
*
Maybe folks are watching the Telly?
Or seeking a guy with a tummy like jelly?
They’re surely not reading anything that I write.
But hey, that’s cool! Ya know it’s alright.
*
I knew there was a Challenge to enter-
My approach was gonna be a little left of center
I wrote right up to the start of dinner.
I like the way it came out, even if not a winner.
*
You know what it’s like to wait for a notification
Of a read, just one-that dopamine hit of elation.
I know it’s long, exceeded that sweet spot
But I had a lot of words, and I wrote what I ought.
*
So; now I know and I pass it on to you.
(Do what you want, honey; you do you)
If you want reads, maybe do as I say
Don’t make posts on the eve of a holiday!

Hahaha super cute and true!
Haha. You may have a point. I know I missed lots in the last few day.
Haha, love it! You’ve nailed the holiday hustle—everyone’s busy with their own thing, and there’s that sweet anticipation of a notification. Lesson learned: holiday posts might need a little more timing!
Haha this is so true. Reads have definitely dipped this week.
So true Judey, not many reads to be had on this holiday season. But now I pose a question for you (not to be snotty but to feed curiosity), who do you post the stories for? Or better phrased, who do you write for? (you or your audience? or something else entirely?)
Sage advice
Loved this. Salient reminder. Especially for me who does not do the Christmas! haha!
This is a great poem that describes one's thoughts and feelings on a subject such as writing for whatever reason. Good job.
