Beneath the Weight of Expectation
A Poetic Journey of Parental Pressure and Personal Struggle
In the hushed whispers of tradition's hold,
Parents wield their hopes, stories untold.
A weight upon young shoulders, heavy and profound,
As they mold dreams into rings, pressured all around.
Marriage, a looming shadow, casts its daunting glare,
As children tread the path, burdened by despair.
Pressed by expectations, suffocated by the weight,
Their souls entangled in a web of fate.
The once bright eyes now dim with fear,
Caught in the crossfire of wishes unclear.
Forced smiles mask the tears that flow,
As their spirits falter, with every blow.
Anxiety grips their hearts like a vice,
As they stumble through the maze of advice.
Whispers of "settling down" echo in their ears,
As they drown in a sea of doubts and fears.
Depression lurks in the corners of their mind,
A silent tormentor, cruel and unkind.
Their laughter fades, replaced by silent cries,
As they grapple with the truth of their own lies.
Sadness seeps into every crevice of their soul,
As they struggle to navigate this endless toll.
But beneath the weight of parental decree,
Lies a longing for freedom, wild and free.
For love cannot be forced, nor dreams contained,
In the confines of expectations, souls are strained.
Let the children breathe, let their hearts decide,
For in the freedom of choice, true happiness resides.
So let us lift the burden, release the chains,
And embrace the beauty of life's varied lanes.
For in the end, it is not the pressure that will define,
But the strength of the spirit, that will truly shine.
