Begin Again

A poem

Healing doesn’t happen in a day

Distorted thought patterns don’t vanish right away

I sprinkle rose water on my skin

I wear a flowery body mist

The passing of time

It will make this pessimism fade away

I will pick myself up and pave new ways

I’m learning to be vulnerable again

To untangle myself from past messes

I walk with ease now, the fog has lifted

Kindness finds me once again

There’s always hope, no matter how faint

I hold the monotony of life with tenderness

I accept my pain and detach myself from old ways

This fatigue isn’t insurmountable

My late-night ramblings made me realise that

This hope and I are inseparable

I look within

I listen to the quickening of my heartbeat

I tell myself, it’s okay to dream

To get better, I must not stay still

Maybe the puzzle pieces will fit this time

On good days, it seems like they would

On bad days, I weep and get back up

It’s not too late, so let me begin

And begin again
