Before The Thaw
My Get-Away

it stirred like something in a dream
as the wind began to blow
the windows hazy, marked with steam
as the sky began to snow
tiny snowflakes, powderesk
collected on the windowsill
frosted scenes etched into glass
this year's first real wintry chill
my tender cheeks, an icy red
with fingers and toes to match
winter's folly come again
with holidays approaching fast
fleeting, its moment in the sun
its fragile flakes exposed and bare
by the time that noonday comes
I find it's melting everywhere
leaving impressions on the ground
subtle hints of what's to come
if these wonders don't astound
you'd better pack your bags and run

A Winter's Lullaby This poem is a beautiful ode to the magic of winter. Your vivid imagery paints a picture of a serene winter wonderland, capturing the delicate beauty of snowflakes and the cozy warmth of the indoors. The contrast between the fleeting nature of the winter's beauty and the enduring impact it leaves is poignant and thought-provoking. Your words evoke a sense of nostalgia and wonder, reminding us to appreciate the simple joys of the season.
Love this time of year and I wish it would get frigid in Central Louisiana. Brought back some memories for me.
Your poem is amazing, creating wonderful visuals of the pictures you've painted. Well done.
So spot on and descriptive, Kelli!
Beautiful words and scene you painted for us.
Another one for the books you may write. This is another one that will stick in the memory.
