you're dancin' with the big boys
you're skimming the rails
good at making the noises
and filling their sails
you don't know the damage
till the bills in the mail
you're finished, you're foolish
you've failed
they'll burn you at the stake
before you react
it's your fatal mistake
used your lives like a cat
surrounded by losers
to make you feel better
second guessing choosers
right down to the letter
consumed by the booze
a one-time go getter
you're finished, you're foolish
you've failed
Hangin on by a thread
by your fingernails
got it in your head
you can handle yourself
you beg and you hope
but you can't get a grip
caught on this slippery slope
biting your teeth at the bit
hangin on to this rope
burning the fray at both ends
you're finished, you're foolish
you've failed

Introspective and hard-hitting, Kelli
This poem seems to hit at so many levels. Good job.
