I want to crawl inside your head
And tuck you in
Wrap you in comfort thick as the Milky Way
Fluff your pillow, silky as a lullaby
Stuffed with dreams soft as kittens fur
Pack the monsters under your bed a sack lunch
Lessen their hunger for you
Afterwards, I’ll spend some time cleaning
Roll up your doubts
Hide them in the back of the sock drawer
Pack your anxiety in Tupperware
Put it on the closet’s highest shelf
Buried under stale linens and childhood memories
Sweep away the crumbs
Leftovers from your friend’s judgments
Don’t worry, I’ll take the trash out
These things will still be here in the morning
But wrinkled fears
And shrink-wrapped angst
Aren’t as frightening through a veil of steam
Rising from a cup of tea stirred by dawn’s rays
Before I leave
I’ll pull down the moon and plug it in
Hold your shadows at bay
And, in case you get thirsty,
I’ll leave a glass of love on your nightstand
To get you through the night

I wish I could pack my anxiety in a Tupperware, lol. I especially loved plugging in the moon. Such a wonderful poem!
Oh, Shaun! Your poems about fatherhood and your kids always capture my heart! This is so beautiful and precious! Absolutely adored, "But wrinkled fears And shrink-wrapped angst Aren’t as frightening through a veil of steam Rising from a cup of tea stirred by dawn’s rays" Such rich imagery! Which doesn't surprise me at all but it always makes me marvel!
Beautiful poem, Shaun!

Please support me.
Very eloquent speech, I loved the imagery!
This is so sweet and magical! I smiled at “pack the monsters a sack lunch” and nodded hard at “take the trash out” (judgment crumbs be gone!).✨
