Becoming the Winter

Becoming the Butterfly

The wind turns sharper on my skin

a quiet sign of change again

The branches murmur soft and low

like they whisper secrets I do not know

Leaves drift down in amber rings

Disappearing like forgotten things

Their final decent is a gentle fall

Reminding us that change comes for us all

For it is the Autumn leaves showing me

that there’s a beauty in falling

The sunlight thins, grows pale and long

Preparing us for this years winter song

Each sound feels louder in the chill

a twig that snaps, a world grown still

And there’s a certain beauty here

in colder days that draw us near

to what we’ve kept beneath the skin

the things we lose lead to the things we win

There’s a certain beauty in winter

the way nature forces you to

slow

down

to breathe, to feel the quiet drop

to take stock of what you’ve got

For growth does not arrive with light

it roots itself in longer night

It does not rush, it does not bloom

beneath a bright and open room

Transformation does not happen

in the brighter months

it happens in the dark

A journey within that be must embark

It happens when you’re forced

to create your cocoon

Reminding us that it’s only after rest

that a butterfly can bloom

A single leaf lands in my hand

cool as truth I understand

that change is quiet, soft, and slow

arriving where the cold winds blow

teaching with every fading hue

the art of letting go to grow

For winter always bring more than snow

Hey, My elder sister used to read them to me, and as I grew up, my love for stories only got stronger. I started with books, and now I enjoy reading on different writing platforms. Today, I came here just to read some stories, and that’s when I found your writing. From the very first lines, it caught my attention the more I read, the more I fell in love with your words. So I just had to appreciate you for this beautiful work. I’m really excited to hear your reply!
