We fell for the leaves
Their dancing and colors
Their ability to change
And still be beautiful-
In a world soon settled
With the cold of winter-
We loved their ability to shine
To break the dreary
Gray we all saw-
We loved them until
They dried and withered
All shared the same hue
Coating the ground
We walked upon-
We loved the stars
The way they twinkled,
So bright we saw them
Through child’s eye-
An array of wonder
In the sky above us-
Seaking shapes in their
Wandering lines-
Pointing them out every day
Until one day
We found our voices
Fell on deaf ears-
And slowly
The stars lost their shine
As our days grew longer
And our errands took precedent.
We fell in love with the different
Searching for changes
Alterations to our day
That we eventually absorb
Into routine
To ruin the beauty of
Another thing
We never should have claimed.

This is an amazing poem. It talks about all the beauty in nature that we take for granted.
