Words behind the mirror

There were many, the great and devastating things we did, to feel beautiful.

Back in the time when we were just two friends with nothing to fear.

We used to fight every battle together, always together, victory felt so near.

Those times when we had everything to lose, and the world wasn't enough.

Back in the time when we were just two friends with nothing to fear.

It seemed lovely at first, but we were so young, we didn't see the dangers ahead.

Those times when we had everything to lose, and the world wasn't enough.

Now I wonder if it was worth it, to risk everything we had, just to feel free.

It seemed lovely at first, but we were so young, we didn't see the dangers ahead.

They came and told us we couldn't smile—that they could see when we faked it.

Now I wonder if it was worth it, to risk everything we had, just to feel free,

because they told us not to cry—they decided our fate and we couldn’t change it.

They came and told us we couldn't smile—that they could see when we faked it.

It hurt to see how they changed you, how you turned your back on me

because they told us not to cry—they decided our fate and we couldn’t change it.

They told me I had to forget my past to turn into someone so unlike me.

It hurt to see how they changed you, how you turned your back on me.

I tried to fix it—I tried to take us back to our real home, but they found me.

They told me I had to forget my past to turn into someone so unlike me.

Now you are a stranger, and there in the mirror, I see someone who isn't me.

I tried to fix it—I tried to take us back to our real home, but they found me.

We used to fight every battle together, always together, victory felt so near.

Now you are a stranger, and there in the mirror, I see someone who isn't me.

There were many, the great and devastating things we did, to feel beautiful.
