Beautiful Folk with Broken Hearts

Just keep beating

By Adaline ArcherPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

Has your heart shattered into a trillion pieces lying on the cold, hard, ground? Does it hurt so bad that breathing feels like a suffering in disguise? Does it feel as though you are drowning without the surface in view?

No, I am not here to brag about any sort of cliched philosophies like, “If it is meant to be, it will be” or “Destiny has something better planned”. They may relieve the sadness for a bit or allow you to see the bright side, but are those words enough to heal all your scars?

At the end of the day everything that killed your soul, all of those demons, come rushing back to you in the darkness of the lonely night. The world is not going to stand outside your gate reciting slogans of optimism just to make you feel better about life. You cannot continue to tell yourself things that you have heard billions of times before. Nobody can make you feel like a piece of shit unless without your consent.

Why have you stopped putting your foot down?

Why do you have to wait for someone else to wipe your tears?

Why does anybody have to tell you that you are beautiful?

Why do you place your happiness in hands that might leave you someday?

You gorgeous mess, what are you even waiting for?

Stand up, pick up the pieces of your shattered self-esteem, pull yourself together, and walk with your head held high. Look at yourself in the mirror and acknowledge the person you see. Do you see that? That very person has survived the storm and is ready for more. No matter the damage, even today, all the broken hearts in the world are still beating.
