November Rain Challenge (unofficial)
Another day begins to slowly close.
The months are falling even shorter.
Cold creeps in draining life's color.
"Who knew decay looked so beautiful?"
I'm grateful for the season's friggidness.
"No more worms on rainy sidewalks."

Day 4 of Quitting
If this is how sobriety feels, maybe it’s better to go through life a little buzzed… this, along with other hits like, I want to kill myself, I wish I was dead, and I’m going to throw myself off a bridge have been the only thoughts on rotation these past few days. I promise myself that if, in a month, I still feel like this (‘this’ meaning despondent, full of rage, and simultaneously numb) I can go back to smoking. Until mid-February though? Nicotine is off the table.

I think this captures this time of year perfectly. I am also grateful for the frigidness of winter.
This is a beautiful tribute to a time of year—and a kind of weather—filled with mixed emotions. My favorite line was “Cold creeps in draining life’s color”. It’s so vivid and chilling, and then to follow it up with “Who knew decay looked so beautiful?” evokes a wide range of emotions.
