Be still my soul and wait
For a peace that is not to come
I am not kidding in the least
My soul would never stand to wait
That wild intemperate beast
What an appetite that creature has
Consuming everything that it can
It never would stand still
Pacing, roaming, moving, unceasing
Searching but never to have its fill
Tell my soul to be at rest
But know you are wasting breath
Tell the sun to stop its quest
Command darkness to seek light
My soul in course will travel unbidden east to west
Then one day I will lie down
As I draw my final breath
This gypsy heart will finally cease
My spirit will acquiesce to death
Then, and only then, will you see my soul at peace
