Be Brave
He’s Not Worth It! — A poem
You Know the score,
don’t be a victim
Life is cruel
Unfair
But don’t cry, don’t feel sorry for yourself
You knew it was too good to be true,
you knew your gut pinged
You saw how you were treated
A commodity
They stopped wanting you
I’m such a fool
They can’t help themselves
They have to look,
they have to have more
You’re never enough
They take you for granted,
you lost your zest,
your flair,
your edge
And you wonder where did you go?
Into a shell
Into nothing
Into a scream
Regardless of dreams,
I’m angry
Don’t justify yourself,
you betrayed me
You lied to me, you told me it’s nothing
But it’s everything
Now I’m homeless,
Afraid
Trying to trust
Life is cruel
Unfair
But don’t cry,
don’t feel sorry for yourself
You knew it was too good to be true

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger they say, but I have doubted that at times. Nicely done! Congratulations on Top Story!!!
Wow. Now the issue is how to get back on own feet and gather confidence.
🎉 Congrats on Top Story — well deserved! 🙌 Keep it up! 💪🔥
I love how you've captured the rawness of heartbreak and betrayal.
Such a powerful piece! I agree, we can utilize our pain to make us stronger—it’s all we can do, and it’s never too late to do it. ♥️
Chantal, this poem is a raw and unflinching cry from the heart—a fierce, vulnerable reckoning with betrayal and the painful clarity that follows it. What strikes me most is the cyclical rhythm you’ve crafted: the repetition of “life is cruel / unfair / but don’t cry” acts like both a mantra and a battle cry. It mirrors how grief and anger loop in on themselves, especially when we’re trying to make sense of emotional devastation. There’s a powerful tension here between strength and sorrow—between the voice urging resilience and the one admitting, “I’m such a fool.” That honesty is what makes this resonate so deeply. You’re not just writing about heartbreak—you’re capturing the way it splinters identity, how it leaves someone questioning their worth, their instincts, and their place in the world. And yet, despite everything, “Be Brave” is a declaration. Not polished or sugarcoated, but fierce in its wounded truth. Thank you for putting words to what so many feel but struggle to express. This is poetry that bleeds—and heals.
