Bad Moon
A Halloween poem inspired by CCR song “Bad Moon”

Bad moon in the sky,
don't dare ask why,
as bats and witches fly by.
Vampires with blood-red lips leering,
all who see them are fearing,
they gather for the Halloween feast.
They'll be joined by every creepy beast,
deep in the darkest mausoleum,
Dracula the host,
is slowly coming awake,
in this party, he has a great stake,
to show his gleaming fangs
and to greet his ghoulish guests.
The skeleton band,
is setting up,
their bones are rattling,
their jaws clacking.
And Drac's girl,
the Wicked Witch of the West,
is flying in to do the twist,
this is something not to be missed.
Across the bad moon in the sky,
scary spirits do fly,
the Mummy comes stumbling
and bumbling.
Lightning flashes
and thunder crashes,
as Drac appears beckoning all to come near.
The Mummy among the gravestones,
now looking quite dapper,
while Frankenstein
and his bride,
look forward to this Halloween delight.
The bad moon brightens
and we hear a mournful howl,
from behind a gravestone,
a hairy paw with claws appears,
it’s the werewolf -
never missing a night of fun.
Witches are stirring,
a cauldron with black punch,
for the party,
to make every ghoul into a fool.
Tonight on Halloween,
beware of the bad moon winking,
you never know who might appear,
grab a hold of your favorite creature,
strut forth to a spooky melody,
misty blue and foggy up above,
creatures of the night –
will have fun till daylight.
