A poem for the parents

T’was the night before school and all through the house

The kids were going buck wild, foaming at the mouth

They kicked, they screamed and were dragged to bed

“You can’t make us close our eyes” is what they said.

Mom and Dad did not care they were willing to fight

It was a school night so they were shutting the lights.

A sigh of relief as they closed the door

They were ready for the school year to start once more

To all my parents sending off their children for the 2024 school year,

I know bedtime did not go so easy, or maybe it did, but the children finally fell asleep and the moment is bittersweet. The summer was great with whatever you were able to do for the kids. Things may not seem grand to you, but every moment your child spends with you is grand to them. Cheers to another successful school year!
