Autumnal Magic

Poem

By Glenn G. WoottonPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

Here we are again in September

Summer days have gone

Yet beauty lingers on

As leaves transform

From summer greens

In flashes and flares

Orange, red, yellow, brown

Break from their branches

Come spinning, drifting down

Shortened days fade into longer nights

Sunsets seem to last forever

In autumn on the Northwest Coast

The glaring sun fades below the horizon

Transforms to tangerine then orange

The sky fades from blue

Through mystic hues of indigo and purple

The stars and sometimes the moon appear

And if we are lucky

We can finish with a grand finale

A breathtaking concert of the Aurora Borealis

nature poetry
