At the Gate of Dawn

A Candle Flickers Through the Darkness

By heasb002Published 10 months ago 1 min read

This ghazal speaks from the heart of a restless lover at the break of dawn. In a space between night’s shadows and morning’s promise, the speaker shares the pain of separation, sleeplessness, and yearning. The imagery is rich with silence, wind, and candlelight — all symbols of fragility and longing. It's a poem of vulnerability, calling out to a beloved whose presence defines the dawn itself.

I hold a shattered heart at dawn’s quiet gate,

Whispering to the breeze, of sorrow and fate.

Sleep has left my eyes, peace abandoned my soul,

Like a melting candle, I lose self-control.

The wind's cry echoes from the rooftop high,

A moaning rises from stone and sky.

Come back, my soul, this world without your light,

Knows no true morning, nor end to night.
