At Night

#

By KomalPublished 12 months ago 1 min read

At night,

I wonder what you're doing—

Are you awake,

Or lost in a dream,

Like me,

Staring at the ceiling,

Sleep deprived,

And alone in this room?

---

The world feels distant,

Your absence echoes

In the corners of my thoughts,

Like a silent movie,

Where the sound is only

The ticking of the clock.

---

Tik tak, tik tak...

Each second pulls me deeper

Into the question,

Is it the same for you?

Do you lie awake,

Staring at your own ceiling?

Or does sleep find you easily—

A comfort I can’t claim tonight?

---

The clock,

Its rhythm my only companion,

Gives me answers,

But none that satisfy.

It only counts the moments,

Like a witness

To a longing that will never sleep.

---

At night,

I wonder if you think of me,

In the same silent room,

As time whispers

Its endless reply.

Night....the time for introspection, and a good scare. As your poem shows, we get the most reflective then!

Your poem perfectly captures the feeling of longing and uncertainty. The imagery of the ticking clock and staring at the ceiling adds to the restlessness. I love how it reflects whether the other person feels the same. Great work!

I get it—those late-night thoughts that won’t let you sleep. Makes you wonder if someone else is lying there, just as restless, thinking the same thing. 😄 It's such a relateable one! Loved it ❤🤝✨
