At Least We Had Our Day

If all I have is a memory of you,

then at least we had our day.

The sun burned, the wind blew slow,

and time let love have its way.

No force can steal what once was ours,

no night can turn drown the light,

we lived, we laughed, we held it close,

if only for a night.

If all I have is a shadow’s trace,

a whisper, a fleeting ray,

then let me hold it, fierce and true

at least we had our day.
