As I Feel Interrupted by My Family

I wish they granted me more solitude and study time

I feel so interrupted

by my family.

I wanted to study,

as always.

My daughter needed a nap,

I had to switch off the light,

So I joined her for a rest.

I was dreaming,

my spouse woke me up,

he wanted to make tea,

I needed to watch the boy,

or he would scratch

his eczema skin.

I like waking up

by my self,

especially when in

deep dreaming.

I had my tea

and wanted to go for a walk,

the kids wanted to join,

I never say no to that.

But then they will eat,

not something simple,

they wanted a proper snacks,

egg, bread, and cheese.

The father made it,

taking his own time.

I went upstairs,

to use the time,

to write something,

but the kids came there,

I sighed.

It’s nice having a family,

who seek you,

but writers want,

to maintain flow,

when it’s broken,

we don’t feel Zen,

efforts go in vain.

I hope they understand,

that offering solitude,

no invading space,

is supreme form of love.

To me this is a poem of saying in simple words--"Life happens, make the best of it you can,"

This is so relatable. The tension between loving your family and craving uninterrupted time to think, write, or just be, is so real, especially for us creative souls.

  • I value my alone time too much. I can never sacrifice it for anything or anyone. You're very selfless
