Artist Deserves the Reward

I always used art as my therapy,

as my uniqueness and self-expression,

never a tool for profit.

But when opportunity came,

and people wanted my art,

I sold it for the price of a coffee cup!

Yet a lot of people spit venom.

“It’s shameful,” they say,

“Making art of monks and selling it?”

I laughed. Really?

Research, reading, and art

should be free?

Only your pedicure, Botox,

weigh loss medicines

are service to earn?

When the dentist cleans my teeth

with her tools,

and billed me $1000,

nobody told him/her,

“Isn’t it shameful,

that you are doing treatment

and asking for money?”

When I make my painting,

skillfully gliding my brush,

on paper, on canvas,

suddenly that should be free!

Get rid of hypocrisy, please

art is a sophisticated skill,

and an artist needs all the reward

she can get.
