Are You Listening Yet?
We Can't afford To Wait!
Hello -
Is anyone there?
Are you paying attention?
Can you pretend that you care?
*
Our children are dying,
like soldiers - going to war.
Hiding out in their classrooms,
with no explanation - what for.
*
Hey, are you listening yet?
A child, age six -
Packing heat in his backpack,
teacher shot in the chest!
*
What’s going on here?
How are we still standing still?
Before this happens again,
we all know that it will.
*
A false sense of security -
Utopia built up in your head.
How many more need to be buried?
Until enough are declared dead.
*
Humanity fading
Politics run amuck.
Chasing after agendas -
More ways to make a quick buck.
*
Shame on us - for waiting.
These are our babies being slaughtered.
It’s time to stand up and defend them,
our families, sons and our daughters
*
Litigation, mediation, trepidation
Something - somewhere needs to change!
Before we lose more irreplaceable lives,
at our emotionally abandoned shooting range.

So very well said about things that weigh on my heart heavily. I can't understand how easily people seem to sweep it under the rug. Thank you for writing and sharing this piece. Hugs
This is a powerful piece. Well done.

I saw that story. It’s painful to think a six year old could get a real gun. That shows two things in my opinion. Negligence on the parents of the 6 year old, and the news seizing on a simple tragedy while still saying little about the real issues. As long as there’s a lack or responsibility and accountability by adults, tragic events will happen. But a generation of young people are shooting it out daily and some politicians believe it’s better to get votes than hold them accountable for their actions. Sad…
😮Well said 💯🎯
