Are same sex couples more possessive
Do they try to hold tight and never let each other go

Are same sex couples more possessive
When love is tested
do we hold tighter,
do we kiss longer,
do we guard harder.
The world still watches,
still asks its questions,
so the arms close in,
the hands do not let go.
Is it fear or devotion,
is it survival or need,
to keep the other safe
from the cold outside.
Every couple holds,
every heart clings,
but some are pushed more,
and so they push back.
The flame must be guarded,
the silence is cruel,
so the bond grows fierce,
unyielding, unshaken.
Is it possession
or is it defence,
to love so fiercely
when the world resists.
Perhaps it is clearer
not stronger,
perhaps it is louder
not stranger.
To love when told not to,
to stay when told leave,
to cling is to say
this love will not break.
So if it seems possessive,
if it seems too much,
remember the storm outside,
remember the hate that lingers.
Love is not theft,
not a chain, not a cage,
it is presence,
it is survival.
And maybe the ones judged hardest
are the ones who show
what love can endure,
when it is asked to endure more.
Love is stubborn,
love is fire,
it holds on tighter,
and it does not tire.
The heart is not greedy,
the heart is not weak,
it is only insisting,
let me keep what is mine.
