Angel

A Poem

By Lesley FloydPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

She’s like an angel on borrowed credit

Trying to outfly the rain

It’ll drive her crazy if she lets it

And she’s already insane

Black and bluish

Covered in purple bruises

This girl will never be the same

She’s like an angel with paper thin wings

Flying straight into the wind

She’s got no god to pretend like he’s king

Forgotten where it all ends

Dark and dampened

Crying about what happened

This girl will never be the same

She’s like an angel without a halo

Screaming into the thunder

Broken down and fallen so damn low

Begging to be pulled under

Lost and heartless

She’ll be forever hopeless

This girl will never be the same

She’s like an angel without a heaven

Doesn’t have the faith for it

She’s never been good at being reverent

Doesn’t have the face for it

Off the check list

She’s ruined and she’s reckless

This girl will never be the same

She’s like an angel that doesn’t exist

Faded pages in a book

Tucked away in the deepest dark abyss

No one will ever look

Torn and tattered

She never really mattered

This girl will never be the same

She only wanted to be an angel

To be happy, healed, and clean

But she stoops lower than any devil

Angry, dirty, bleak, and mean

A broken shell

She did this all to herself

This girl never really changed
