A Between Here and There Poem

Caught at the crossroads of one thousand anxious thought streams -

a silent fly alighting on a stack of crayon boxes

set aglow by tired, shadow-streaked bands

of this early autumn's late afternoon light

is what brings me back to the present,

breaks through the cacophonic haze,

and heralds to me the truth

that I am alive.

For to live one's best is to read, and to write!
