An Acrostic “HEROS” Limerick Revisted On National Heros Day
This is for all who rose to the occasion in the face of grave danger

I wrote this in 2020 when the world was being ravaged by Covid-19. America was devistated by the pandemic. And we were able to survive it through incredible medical reserch and development. But before the vaccine was operational, the health care community went way above and beyond to deliver care and save as many people as they could, especially when the sitution seemed dire. Understaffed and over worked, they did whatever it took. We saw real HEROISM and true HEROS. My original post is below.
After watching more news on television than I ever have in my life, I am appalled at how politics and political figures are dealing, or not dealing, with the pandemic in such self-serving ways. There have been some exceptions who have demonstrated decisive leadership, and, unfortunately, the news focuses on those that haven’t. But what we have seen every day is the exceptional courage and determination of the actual boots-on-the-ground frontline “soldiers” battling the pandemic every minute of every day. They are and will be remembered as the real HEROS
Health workers rushing into the fray,
Each risking their own life every day,
Requiring no praise –
Only prayers for better days…
Showing real courage on display!
