A poem a day: Day 3

By Christian KollerPublished 5 years ago 1 min read

It’s so weird now to determine what you believe

When laws are bent and wrongs reprieved

It’s gotten easier I suppose

I wish it were harder, I don’t know

But in a moment of grotesque and evil action

We embrace the idea of faction against faction

Complicit, complacent, and communication

Or lack thereof, in a sickened nation

It’s always the news, on my TV, my phone,

My laptop, my friends, and I’m never alone

I’m always tired, I’m always working

I’m always fighting, I’m always hurting

There’s no more grey, just black and white

I do it myself, sometimes out of spite

It’s hard to remember, to think where we’ve been

We’re stuck and we’re bold, we’re American.
