A Train of Thought

In the face of monster, you always keep your train of thought.

I.

Never lost

my train

of thought

when confined

to the "Ogre’s" couch.

II.

I kept it rolling,

losing myself in

a fantastic world,

while reality

of that damn old lady

tried to throw me off

those tracks

that kept

my sanity.

III.

Backhand across the face?

I thought of a pretty place.

Toy breaks on my lap?

Still strong and sturdy and no more slaps.

Whip my behind?

I kept smiling inside,

never letting

that Ogre win.

Never letting

her destroy

my train

of thought.

As a child

As a human.

IV.

To her,

I'll never abide.

I have my train.

I have my thoughts.

She can't touch me

deep inside.
