Am I OK?

Not Really

By Natasja RosePublished 3 years ago Updated about a year ago 1 min read

I fail, and see only the loss of my dreams

Not the drive that allowed me to persue them.

***

I am told "You are not good enough to continue"

And I am blind to the success that brought me this far.

***

My vision is filled with those that desire my absence

Blocking out the ones who seek my presence.

***

I experience the struggles and tribulations of life,

So I forget the joys and triumphs that came with them.

***

On the crest of a high wave, one sees the limitless sky.

In a trough between waves, one sees nothing but water.

It's R U OK day, and the answer to that question is not always 'yes'. Sometimes, the best thing you can do to help is to listen without judgement, and show compassion.

  • Great poem! That's my preferred part: My vision is filled with those that desire my absence Blocking out the ones who seek my presence.

Beautiful poem. In its brevity, it still conveys so much relatable emotion. The last two lines are so poignant.
