Once it had hooked me

Its onslaught on my senses

Kept me wanting more

*

Needing so much more

My self control it ruined

Infected my psyche

*

Marred what was sacred

Promised satisfaction, lies

Left me wanting more

*

Destroyed innocence

Eradicator of trust

Intimacy soiled

*

Never fully cured

Always in recovery

Everyday battle

*

Thanks for reading!

Author's Note: Need to finish some other things, but this keeps staring at me from my WIPs. So here it is. A subject I've discussed before, in haiku-form.

Thank you for opening up about it. You did an incredible job of putting it into words. Hope you're going well now

There’s so much I want to say about this—about my history with it, and what I think helps. But it’s scary for me to talk about, because of the stigma of me being a woman who was into it. I’ve been wanting to write a fiction story, even though everyone will know it’s about me. I think it might be easier to write from a place of detachment. Anyways, thank you for this. I wish people were more understanding of it, and didn’t shame their loved ones for it.

Awesome Haiku collections, that shine a light on this addiction that needs to be talked about a lot more. Great work Paul! ☺️

  • If only porn never existed. It must have been difficult to come out of this but you did it! I'm so happy for you!

  • It is so insidious & ubiquitous, assaulting our senses everyday we go online, whether spam emails, text messages or whatever. And to top it off, the chemical to which we are addicted (hormones), our own bodies produce. Always in recovery.

I feel like this is an addiction not talked about enough. Most people don't see stuff like this as an issue, especially in todays world. I feel like this and food are probably two of the worst addictions to have because they're so main stream and accepted... not to mention, legal and celebrated most of the time. Good job on kicking the habit. Definitely something to be proud of. :)

    This is truth.

I was expecting this to be in a different pattern, with every second verse being 7-7 😁 Well done for getting clean. Stay busy, that's the thing. 👍
