Stillness settled suddenly in the wood
Instictively all nature paused to
Listen to the silence after the thunderclap
Eventually, hesitant twitters and tweets
Nullified the need to continue holding their breath
Cacophonous birdsong resumed
Ending the silence of storm-startled wildlife
