Life is a Highway

Do you ever dream in color or is it in black and white?

A question I think I've heard them ask.

Sometimes I dream in gray

With fighters in the night

Black shadows playing in the dark

On heavy gray decks, Clinking and clanking and hidden spots

I wonder if i see the red afterburner

or if i’ll be called back

Panic and longing both set in

A chance

To be unified, make right

See a brilliant starry night

White specks and streaks across the great divide

I can’t end here

But green, it isn’t what you want to see

Now there’s red boxes, songs in the dark

I wake up too old

But at least i have her

When daylight comes again there’s laughing and water,

A lagoon, almost blue

And deep down, below all the murk

there’s love and it’s red

the afterglow

Mommy, the color of gold and peachy pink

A new sunrise, a better glow

All soft and warm and true

A promise

surreal poetry
