A Wink Across Miles.

On the Curious Pleasure of Being Desired Afar.

By Cathy (Christine Acheini) Ben-Ameh.Published 3 months ago 1 min read

Your gaze arrives by post though none was sent,
A letter sealed in silence, soft yet clear,
It stamps my morning with a sweet intent,
And leaves its watermark upon my ear.

I taste the tea of longing, strong and hot,
The sugar stirred by hands I’ve never met,
Each sip suggests a closeness that is not,
Yet still I drink, and never quite forget.

For distance sharpens hunger more than bread,
It toasts the air with buttered fantasy,
What crumbs of thought are scattered in my head,
Are feasts enough for whispered ecstasy.

So let this punning passion brew awhile,
A lover’s kettle humming mile by mile.
